The cover of the checklist: Spot a Bad TEFL Course or Job Offer

Before you pay for a TEFL course or get on a plane to a teaching job, run through this checklist. It takes about twenty minutes and can save you a lot of money and trouble.

Inside (printable PDF, 4 pages plus cover, A4):

Choosing a TEFL course: the red flags (hours, teaching practice, “accredited” claims, refunds, “guaranteed jobs”) and five questions to ask the course seller.
Checking a job offer: visa and work permit, the contract, pay and cost of living, housing and flights.
Checking the school: how to make sure it exists and talk to a real teacher there.
Common scam patterns: fees, deposits, pressure and fake recruiters.
Before you pay, before you accept, before you fly: short tick-box lists.
